It turns out the winning $338 million Powerball ticket was purchased in North Jersey, not at a Bordentown truck stop.

“The winning ticket was sold at Eagle Liquors in Passaic New Jersey – not Bordentown - somebody may have called the place in Bordentown and talked about claiming a ticket- and perhaps somebody jumped to a conclusion,” said Lottery Executive Director Carole Hedinger, during a news conference at Lottery Headquarters in Lawrenceville this morning.

She also told reporters we still don’t know who the winner, or winners are.

“I have some advice for them right away – whoever they are they should sign the back of that ticket immediately – put it in a safe place,” Hedinger says.

Ticket Must Be Validated

After that she recommends they take it to any New Jersey Lottery retailer and have it validated – because that way, the ticket will be secure. She also advises them to set up a meeting with their financial adviser or lawyer, or a CPA, and take their time to figure out what they’re going to do before they come in and claim that ticket.

The $338 million annuity jackpot is worth a cool $211 million in cash – before taxes.

“We’re very excited to have sold that ticket in New Jersey – this is a wonderful thing for the State,” said Hedinger. "It’s a wonderful thing for our citizens – Powerball generates a lot of revenue for New Jersey to support our institutions and education – so it’s very exciting to have a winner here.”

This is the fourth largest jackpot in Powerball history and the cash value is the third largest in Powerball history.

The winning numbers for the Saturday, March 23 drawing were: 17, 29, 31, 52 and 53. The Red Power Ball number was 31.

The Powerball jackpot will reset to$40 million for the next drawing, which will be held on Wednesday, March 27 at 11:00 pm.
