A Jersey Shore family is asking for help from the public after their American flag was stolen.

6abc reports, the flag was an heirloom in the Corcorans family. Apparently, someone stole their 5'10 flag from its pole on their North Wildwood property.

This is also the same flag that was laid across the casket of Patrick M. Corcoran, who died fighting in Vietnam in 1969.

The flag definitely has sentimental value to the family, and is only flown to celebrate the fourth of July.

Now the family asks, for the flag back no questions asked according to 6abc News.

The Corcoran family says they only want the the flag safely returned.

Unfortunately the article didn't provide any contact information in case you would like to help this family find it.
