New $2 Million Park to Be Added to Boardwalk in Avalon

The Borough of Avalon plans to build a substantial park area next to it's existing boardwalk, and it could be ready for visitors by next summer.

The Jersey shore town announced it will likely be breaking ground this week on Surfside Park, a 1.21-acre recreation area, according to NJ.com.

The park will allow for live music on a small stage, and lawn area, a playground, changing stations, plus access to the boardwalk, and a place to rinse off after a long day on the beach.

Avalon Mayor Martin Pagliughi said in a statement the $2 million dollars needed to complete the project came in the form of two grants from the Cape May County Open Space Program and Chosen Freeholders.

Surfside Park is set to open to the public in May 2019.
