You can't avoid it. Jumbo bags of Halloween candy are everywhere. This isn't necessarily a bad thing if you have a shred of self control. I do not. Sumocoupon.com has apparently figured out each state's most popular or "trending" Halloween candy and as far as NJ is concerned, it's pretty lame.

Snickers, Milky Way, Kit Kat, Butterfinger, the chocolate choices are endless. I'll even take some Starbursts or Skittles. However, according to Sumocoupon's latest survey, bubble tape is South Jersey's most popular Halloween candy. Bubble tape.

I can't tell you the last time I've even seen bubble tape. It was probably when I played little league when I was eight. I find it hard to believe that bubble tape is being given away the most in NJ on Halloween.

How did Sumocoupon get their results?

In order to determine which candy stood out in search volumes for each state, we analyzed Google Search Volumes. To determine the specific winner in each state, we used Google Trends, which gives scores out of 100 for the popularity of a single search term. Some states had more than one candy with a score of 100, and since we could only choose one candy per state, we chose the candy that was more unique (for example, if apples and peanut butter cups were tied for 100, but peanut butter cups were already present in other states, we went with apples for that state).

Could it be worse? Yes. California's most popular candy is wax lips. Cali is not to be outdone by New Mexico though. Their's isn't even edible. It's pencils. See the complete U.S. breakdown here.
