NJ.com says The New York Post is reporting that after parents complained to school administrators, they asked for Ventre's resignation and he agree to step down at the end of the school year.

However, the Superintendent of the Middletown School District said today that Mr. Ventre has withdrawn his resignation and "there is no action regarding this employee before the board at this time," according to Middletown Patch.

Good for him!

Was showing the John Oliver show to his class a mistake? Yes. Should he step down because of it? Hell no!

I am so tired of people in all areas of business inadvertently upsetting the customer, or in this case the parents, and demanding they get fired. I have never in my life demanded someone lose their job because of something that has happened to me. And trust me, I've had my fair share of unpleasant experiences.

Poor judgement happens. Mr. Ventre should've known that showing that video in his class would potentially offend or possibly confuse young political minds. He obviously recognized his error by agreeing to step down. I'm glad he thought it over and decided not to cave.

Kudos to the parents who decided to take a different route with a petition supporting Mr. Ventre. There are over 3,000 people who have signed.

TELL US! Do you think this teacher should step down or be fired for showing this video in his class? Should there be disciplinary action? Share your thoughts below.

Here's the video that has caused all of the controversy.
