This juggernaut of a casino, was only one of twelve Atlantic City casinos to completely ban smoking.  That changed over Memorial Day weekend.

By now, you know I'm referring to the $2.4 billion megaresort known as Revel.

After emerging from Chapter 11 bankruptcy the casino is going through a massive marketing over-haul, and in order to keep up with competition, smoking will be permitted in certain areas of the casino.

According to The Press of Atlantic City, Revel was 'near the bottom of the pack in gambling revenue in the Atlantic City market, prompting questions whether the smoking ban had contributed to its financial struggles.'  So, in order to gain more of the gambling crowd, the smoking ban was lifted.  After all, whether you like to inhale the sweet aroma of second hand smoke or not, gamblers like to drink AND smoke.

Anti-tobacco advocates are obviously not pleased.  Karen Blumenfeld, executive director of the New Jersey-based Global Advisors on Smokefree Policy asked, 'I wonder how Revel notified guests who made reservations for this weekend that wanted a 100 percent smoke-free venue, and then showed up to a smoky gaming floor?

What do you think?
