I have the utmost R-E-S-P-E-C-T for Aretha Franklin.  She is undeniably the Queen of Soul.  However, I don't know how I feel about what she's done to Adele's 'Rolling in the Deep'.  Listen to Aretha's rendition of this song and give us your opinion on the cover.

It's not that Aretha can't still sing.  I mean, its clear that she can.  And this is a woman (a DIVA, excuse me) in her late 70's!  I just feel there's a fire and a passion missing from her vocal that hasn't yet been bested by anyone that's covered 'Rolling in the Deep'.  Adele is mad, and you can tell, and it come through so fiercely in her song.  Aretha seems more focused on flaunting her vocal gymnastics.  Perhaps she just wasn't as mad at an ex as Adele was when she wrote the song.  Because the Aretha's releasing a whole album covering songs by other famous female vocalists, maybe this was her attempt to warn Adele that she hasn't exactly passed the torch yet.
