Lady Gaga is a crusader for LGBT rights and ‘Glee‘ certainly does its very best to positively portray gay characters every week –  so it’s no shock that both the Mother Monster and one of TV’s most popular shows have been nominated for GLAAD Awards.

GLAAD – the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation — is a media monitoring organization that seeks to amplify the voice of the gay community and the GLAADs were created in 1989 as a way to recognize and honor celebrities and media outlets for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the community.

WENN
reports that Gaga has been nominated in the Outstanding Music Artist category, where she will square off against MEN, Girl in a Coma, and Beverly McClellan. McClellan was a contestant on ‘The Voice‘ last season.

‘Glee’ is up for Outstanding Comedy Series where it’s facing off with ‘Modern Family and ‘The Big C.’

The awards will be handed out at various ceremonies this spring, between March and June.
