He is remembered for his boyish good looks, being a Southern gentleman, a Kanye West cover that almost upstaged the original, oh, and maybe the biggest upset in American Idol history. Season 8 winner Kris Allen will spend time with SoJO 104.9 tomorrow morning.

Many say the battle in 2009 between Allen and Adam Lambert was the best Idol finals in the show's history.  Kris and Adam could not be any more different, but both walked away from Season 8 victorious - Lambert benefited from his 2nd place finish and did the album he wanted to do, and Kris Allen (who looked genuinely shocked when he won Idol) scored 4 Top-20 hits (including "Live Like We're Dying" which you hear here on SoJO) and sales of those singles approaching a combined 3 Million.

The song that many felt may have one Kris Allen the title of American Idol is his take on Kanye West's "Heartless".  This may one of the best cover versions of any song - Allen nailed this with his style and emotion, and many video montages and live versions of Allen's version have found their way to YouTube.  A combined over 4 Million views for "Heartless" since his Idol winning moment.

Allen has a new CD coming out later this month called Thank You Camellia - listen for Tom Morgan on the SoJO Morning Show on Friday morning.  Don't be surprised if Morgan plays Allen's new song "The Vision of Love", but just in case he does not, here's the video.
