Unfortunately for many democrats, love didn't exactly trump hate this week, when Donald Trump was elected as President of the United States over Hillary Clinton. Still, John Mayer's given us plenty of reason to believe love will be alive and well when the weekend finally rolls around.

Mayer, who last released original music with 2013's Paradise Valley, shared an image to Instagram this morning (November 10) that seems to point to a new single. Called "Love on the Weekend," the project's cover is hazy and sherbet-colored, and the song will debut on November 17.

Naturally, fans of Mayer's had a field day with the announcement, and immediately commented about how long they've been waiting for Mayer's next era.

"Tell me this is a new single please! I'm literally screaming!" one fan wrote while another noted "Omg I'm breathing heavy and sweating yaaaasssssss finally!"

Mayer most recently released a cover of Beyonce's "XO" in 2014. In October, John Mayer Trio drummer Steve Jordan mistakenly let it slip to Entertainment Weekly that Mayer's new album is called The Search For Everything, noting "Oh! Oops."

"The last time when we first came together for tsunami relief we were starting the Continuum album, and so now we're doing this relief and it's in the middle of, or finishing John's newest album," he said.
