Is This Kind of Gift Registry Too Much?

Laura in EHT told us on The Mike Show that she has been invited to a 32 year old co-worker's birthday party, and she can't believe what is on the invitation!

Printed on the birthday party invitation was a GIFT REGISTRY - the birthday girl is registered for her birthday party at 3 different stores!

Laura says that she has no problem with wedding registries and baby registries, but a BIRTHDAY REGISTRY? Where does it end?

Laura said she was thinking of giving her co-worker a gift card, but how can she now, after the whole gift registry thing? And the items the birthday girl has chosen are A LOT more money than Laura was planning on spending.

What should Laura do? Are gift registries getting out of hand?
