Narcissistic personality disorder is a real mental disorder that  is more than someone just thinking the world revolves around them. Someone with this disorder may come across as boastful, pretentious or conceited. They may monopolize conversations and look down on people they perceive as inferior. They often feel they deserve special treatment and may become angry or impatient when they dont receive it.

People with this disorder may also have trouble handling criticism and, to cover feelings of insecurity, they may react with rage. They may also feel depressed because they fall short of perfection. Many experts use the criteria in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5), published by the American Psychiatric Association, to diagnose mental conditions. Check out the list of traits associated with narcissistic personality disorder.
