On average in the 2014-2015 school year, NJ school districts spent an average of $19,652 per student according to the Department of Education’s Taxpayer’s Guide to Education Spending. Here’s how Atlantic and Cape May looked.

Excluding Atlantic County Special Services, Margate City School District spent the most per student in 2014-2015 at $29,113. An increase of 8.7% from the prior school year.

The Atlantic district that spent the least is Hammonton Township. $14,629 per student, a 1.7% increase from the 2013-2014 school year.

In Cape May County, Avalon Boro spent a whopping $63,786 per student in 14-15. That is over three times the statewide average and an increase of 32.2% from 13-14.

The Cape May district that spent the least is Lower Twp. $17,003 per student, a 2.2% increase from the 2013-2014 school year.
