Two things that don't go together very well: The Atlantic City Expressway and loose horses.

6abc.com is reporting that at least three minor accidents took place on the Expressway at about 3am because of loose horses. The incidents happened near the Hammonton Exit (Exit 38).

6abc.com reports that the horse were believed to have escaped from a farm in Winslow Township. They say there was one minor injury, and at least one horse was killed.

Here's an update from New Jersey State Police:

Troopers from the Atlantic City Expressway Station responded to a single-car crash involving a horse earlier this morning in Winslow Township.

At 3:03 a.m., at milepost 32.1, a passenger car struck and killed a horse in the area of right shoulder. Fortunately, responding troopers were to corral a second horse that was not injured. Only minor injuries were reported.

After a brief investigation, the owner of located and notified. The details and circumstances of how the horses got onto ACE are still under investigation. There is no additional information available at this time.
