The 'little robot that could' started in Boston and was set out for San Francisco.  It never made it past Philadelphia.

This sounds like a horrible ending to a Disney movie.

Researchers from Ryerson University in Toronto started an experiment to see if a ROBOT could hitchhike across America.  They called it 'hitchBOT,' and put it by the side of the road in Boston with a sign saying "San Francisco or Bust!"

Scientists were hoping that people would pick up the robot and take it to different destinations.  They wanted the little guy to experience everything from The Grand Canyon to The White House.

The experiment started out great.  It visited different places in Boston, and also made it to Times Square.  Here's a description of some of hitchBOT's adventure:

The next destination was Philadelphia, where people DESTROYED it.  Somebody stole the electronics inside, and even took its HEAD.

So much for that brotherly love.
