The man who was struck by a 50-pound dumbbell while driving on the New Jersey Turnpike in Salem County, has passed away from his injuries.

On Jan. 9, Jack DeCarlo was traveling with his wife, Patricia, to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. While driving down the NJ Turnpike in Salem County near Delaware Memorial Bridge, a dumbbell came crashing through his SUV's windshield out of nowhere.

As a result, DeCarlo suffered head injuries, while Patricia suffered only minor injuries.

He was taken to Crozer Regional Trauma Center in PA, where on Tuesday night around 7p.m., he passed away.

Jack DeCarlo was from Hamilton Township, Mercer County.

Police are still investigating where the dumbbell came from.
