The father of Brendan Creato, who vanished last fall and was found dead hours later, has been arrested and charged with murder.

Camden County prosecutor's office tells 6abc.com that 22-year old David Creato, Jr. was indicted by a grand jury on first-degree murder and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child charges in the death of 3-year-old Brendan.

The boy reportedly went missing in the early morning hours of October 13, 2015 from his home on Cooper Street in Haddon Twp.

He was tracked to a stretch of woods off South Park Drive near Cooper River where a police K-9 discovered him dead.

A lawyer representing David Creato, Jr., who also goes by the name D.J., says his client plans to plead not guilty and intends to fight the murder charges, maintaining his innocence.

Creato made a 911 call the day Brendan vanished and stated, "I just woke up and my 3-year-old's missing." "I just woke up and he wasn't in my apartment," he said after the operator asked if he saw or heard anything. "I don't know if he wandered out or what happened. I don't know where he is. The door was locked. I guess he unlocked it and left," Creato continues.

Creato will be arraigned today.
