Have you ever driven past the house in Galloway with hundreds of green bottles outside? I know I have, probably a thousand times. But did you know that it actually isn't just green bottles displayed in rows and columns outside of someone's home?

This house, located on Jimmie Leeds Road, is actually a collection of glass telegraph wire insulators.

The original owner of the collection, Stanley Hammell, found most of his insulators by walking around old railroad tracks and fallen telegraph poles. Stanley passed in 2012 but the green and blue insulators have remained sparkling on his old property.

Upon closer look at the display outside of the house, you can see wires connecting the green glass pieces together. Stanley built the wooden displays and lined the insulators across them himself. He started the collection upon retiring, saying that many people collect the old telegraph insulators but few display them how he does.

The next time you're down by Galloway take a drive by it. Now that you know what it is, it is definitely a sight worth seeing.
