Galloway Man Arrested for Impersonating Veteran
A Galloway Township man has been arrested for allegedly impersonating a soldier on Veterans Day.
Investigators 25-year old Michael Porter spent Wednesday dressed in military garb near Pomona Road and Atlantic Avenue, identifying himself as a Military Police for the U.S. Army. He was reportedly in possession of a portable radio capable of receiving police and emergency dispatch transmissions, and a set of handcuffs, according to 6abc.com.
Porter was picked up by police and processed. He faces a charge of Impersonating Military Personnel / Stolen Valor. Porter was sent to the Atlantic County Jail in lieu of $5,000 full cash bail.
No word on who contacted Galloway Twp police to report Porter, or if he had been in uniform attempting to collect donations on Veterans Day.
