SUMMARY:Special Olympics New Jersey Hockey Tournament
DESCRIPTION:    Special Olympics New Jersey will host a Floor Hockey State Tournament.  The two-day state floor hockey tournament will feature teams from across New Jersey who qualified by participating in league competition throughout November and December.  The event is free and open to the public. The community is encouraged to come out and cheer on the athletes and take the opportunity to learn about Special Olympics New Jersey.    Tournament will take place at  Big Blue Sports Center at Stockton College\, 101 Vera King Farris Drive in Galloway\, Saturday\, January 7\,  from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday\, January 8\,  from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Awards will be given out on Sunday after competition is completed in each division.

DESCRIPTION:The organizers of the Jersey Genesis Triathlon will again include a high school challenge to the team division of the event. Three students\, who all attend the same high school\, can enter as a team in the Triathlon. Teams consist of one swimmer\, one runner and one biker (all males\, all females or co-eds).  The three teams with the best finishing times will receive awards. Cape Bank has provided additional sponsorship for a traveling school trophy for the team with the best finishing time. The trophy will be kept by the winning school and returned the following year to the race director to be presented to the new winning team. Student team entry fee is $60.00 and team name must include the name of the high school the athletes attend. Student school ID will be required at packet pick-up. High schools can enter several teams. SUMMARY:McCline Veterans Fund  1st Annual Softball Tournament
DESCRIPTION:McCline Veterans Fund will host their 1st Annual Softball   Tournament on Saturday August 11\, 2012 at Egg Harbor Township High   School Softball Fields. Fee: $35 per person.  This one day tournament is   a double elimination tournament meaning each team is guaranteed to  play  at least 2 games.  It is co-ed so teams should plan to field  lineups  with both women and men.  Game times will be scheduled after   registration has closed and team captains will be contacted.  All teams   will be provided t-shirts upon arrival at the fields.  The fee is $35   per participant (non-refundable)\, players must be 21 or older\, and the   deadline to register is July 10th. First come first served.    Trophies and prizes will be presented at the Tournament After Party   at Chickie’s and Pete’s in EHT from 8:30 pm til 10:30  pm. The after   party will have pizza\, crab fries\, soda\, and domestic draft beer   included. All official team members will be issued a red white and blue   charity wrist band to present for entry. Guests\, spectators\, outsiders\,   family\, and friends are welcome to join the after party and may do so  by  purchasing tickets to partake in food and drinks in advance\, at the   field\, or at the door for $20.    This is a fundraiser and all proceeds from the event will benefit   local Veterans and Active Duty US Military Personnel.  Dave McCline was a   local disabled US Navy Veteran who served in Vietnam.  While stationed   overseas in Vietnam Dave contacted Agent Orange which caused years of   medical problems ultimately leading to his untimely passing in 2010.   In  his name we are trying honor the brave men and women of the US  Military  by starting this nonprofit organization which raises funds for  annual  medical grants and educational scholarships for local  families.  Please  help this great cause and show the local community of  heroes that they  are not forgotten! SUMMARY:Project Purple Awareness Program Kickoff
DESCRIPTION:Ocean City High School will be "Going Purple" January 22\, 2013 to kick off Project Purple\, an anti-substance abuse awareness program created by former NBA basketball player Chris Herren. The Project Purple kick-off will take place on Tuesday\, January 22nd during the 7:00pm boys’ basketball game against St Augustine’s Prep.    January 22nd marks the second time Chris Herren will address students and parents of the district. Chris Herren first spoke at two assemblies last March that were met with rave reviews from students\, parents and faculty. Both of Chris Herren’s appearances were spearheaded by the Ocean City Education Foundation    Thanks to a grant from the Ocean City Home Bank Charitable Foundation\, all students from both Ocean City and Upper Township School districts will receive a free Project Purple t-shirt at the game. The students will receive the t-shirt simply by showing their school identification as they enter the gym.    Project Purple is an initiative of The Herren Project\, a non-profit foundation established by Chris Herren\, former NBA basketball player\, motivational speaker\, author and sobriety advocate\, that assists individuals and families struggling with addiction. Project Purple's goals are to create awareness and educate the public on the epidemic of substance abuse while encouraging teens and people of all ages to make good choices and stand up to drugs and alcohol.  The program will also work to raise funds to provide effective treatment solutions for those who need assistance to overcome substance abuse issues.    Join Chris Herren as we stand up and "Go Purple" showing support for the fight against substance abuse. The January 22nd boys’ basketball game will be held 7:00pm at the Ocean City High School gym located on 6th street in Ocean City. Be sure to attend as together we make a difference. SUMMARY:Mainland High School Lacrosse Plays For Charity
DESCRIPTION:The Mainland Regional High School boys lacrosse team will play for more than just a win Friday.  The Mustangs also will be playing for a cause when they host Oakcrest in the HEADstrong charity game at 7 p.m. on the football field. The HEADstrong Foundation was created by Nicholas Colleluori of Holmes\, Pa. Colleluori played lacrosse at Ridley High School and Hofstra University. After starting in all 16 games his freshman year at Hofstra\, Colleluori was diagnosed with blood cancer. He battled cancer for 14 months and passed away in November 2006.  During his fight\, Colleluori created the foundation to raise awareness and help others battling the disease.    The Mustangs were looking for a way to give back this season and sophomore Brendan Hoelker's mother\, Tiffany Hoelker\, heard about the foundation from summer tournaments in which her son participated.  No admission will be charged\, but donations will be accepted and all proceeds from concession sales will be donated to HEADstrong. The Mustangs' developing supporting cast this season includes Chris Sheldon\, Ryan Swenson and Brad Meister. The Mustangs also have a tight defense\, and junior Daulton Sykora has replaced his graduated brother\, Ricky\, at goaltender.    Mainland will face an Oakcrest team (4-1) that is stronger and more disciplined than it was last season\, according to new Falcons coach Brett Hoffecker.    Mainland hopes that the HEADstrong cause\, its youth and drive will help lead it to victory on the special night.

DESCRIPTION:The 19th Annual Donny Fund Day will be held at the Yacht Club of Pleasantville on Sunday\, June 9th from 8am to Noon.  Challenge yourself with a 2/5 mile bay course to row\, paddle\, kayak or swim across Lakes Bay and 5 K walk or run along Lakes Bay.  The Donny Fund Day is an open challenge for anyone who would like to participate in any activity.  For all water-related activities\, the course on Lakes Bay starts and finishes at the Yacht Club in Pleasantville.  Any seaworthy persons or vessels are eligible!  The course for walkers and runners will be a round-trip scenic course beginning at the Yacht Club\, along the shores of Lakes Bay\, to the end of Bay Drive\, which was once the location of the Sand Castle Restaurant.    The entry fee will entitle each participant to brunch\, and music on the deck\, as well as a tee shirt\, tank top\, or hat.  Long-sleeve shirts and sweatshirts will also be sold at the Yacht Club.    “Bert’s Breakfast” Brunch for non-participants will be $7.00.      All Proceeds benefit Kids With Catastrophic Diseases through the “DONNY FUND” of the JNS Foundation. DESCRIPTION:The 18th Annual Golf Invitational to benefit the ACHLA Scholarship Foundation will be Thursday\, June 13th at Linwood Country Club. ACHLA is partnering with DO AC ACCVA!   Registration will be from 10:30am-11am\, buffet luncheon from 11am to Noon and a shotgun start at Noon.  Entry fee is $235 and includes luncheon\, greens fee and golf cart\, refreshments on the golf course\, entry in team event tournament and cocktail hour and awards dinner.    Proceeds will benefit Atlantic City Hotel & Lodging Association.
