Join Heather DeLuca for a live broadcast from 10am to 3pm as Tropicana unveils six new restaurants and eateries in a single day! Join us Thursday, July 11, 2013, as we celebrate the grand opening of Chickie’s & Pete’s Crab House and Sports Bar, Tony Luke’s, Casa Taco & Tequila Bar, Marketplace Express, Perry’s Pizza, and Broadway Burger Bar and Grill. Plus, don’t miss another exciting announcement regarding what’s new at Tropicana!
11:00 a.m. Pep Rally on The Boardwalk
The pep rally kicks off on the boardwalk with live performances by the Eagles Pep Band, legendary Mummers, Philadelphia Soul Cheerleaders and mascot "The Soul Man", your favorite characters from Boogie Nights, and more. Follow the festive parade from location to location during this day of fun, flavor and over-the-top festivities! Sample select menu offerings from the new restaurants. Trop TV hostess will cover the grand opening events streaming live throughout the resort and on the Trop’s Facebook page. SoJo 104.9 adds to the fun with a live broadcast and interactive games and prize giveaways. In the event of rain, these festivities will take place in Fiesta Plaza in The Quarter.
11:30 a.m. Ribbon Cutting at Broadway Burger Bar
Witness the ribbon cutting ceremony and sample the juicy goodness from this gourmet burger bar’s fresh ground beef patties cooked over an open flame. The full service bar and live entertainment take this dining experience well beyond the average burger joint. You can even pose for pictures with the eatery’s signature 24-ounce Hubcap Burger.
12:30 p.m. “Sandwich Cutting” at Tony Luke’s in The Marketplace
Tony Luke celebrates his first boardwalk location with his signature “Sandwich Cutting” of a 6’ cheesesteak! Bite into the “real taste of South Philly” with samples of his renowned cheesesteak and don’t miss a one-of-a-kind photo op with a 6’ cheesesteak and Tony Luke Jr.
12:45 p.m. Inauguration of Casa Taco & Tequila Bar in The Marketplace
Casa Taco & Tequila Bar is celebrating its grand opening with a Mexican fiesta featuring an authentic mariachi band and samples of fish tacos and their signature table-side guacamole. Casa’s senoritas will add to the fun by pressing fresh corn tortillas and pouring virgin margaritas.
1:00 p.m. Official Grand Opening of Chickie’s & Pete’s Crab House and Sports Bar
Philly’s favorite full-service restaurant and sports bar, with its equally famous crabs and crab fries opens just off Tropicana’s casino floor and this celebration is scheduled to include menu sampling, live WIP Remote with Anthony Gargano and Glen Macnow, sports celebrities appearances and autograph signings, Dan Baker “Voice of the Ballpark”, Jerry Blavat “The Geator with the Heater”, Philadelphia Soul Cheerleaders and mascot “The Soul Man”, and more! The party doesn’t stop here. Enjoy live entertainment all day long at the after party!
