Emergency Evacuation Drill Planned for Thursday
The New Jersey Department of Transportation along with several other state agencies will be conducting an emergency evacuation exercise tomorrow, Thursday, July 10th.
The exercise is designed to refine a response in the event of a major hurricane or other disaster that would require a large-scale evacuation. No roads will be closed during the drill but motorists will see extra state troopers and work crews along several South Jersey roads, such as:
– The entire length of the Atlantic City Expressway
– Route 72 leaving Long Beach Island past the Parkway
– Routes 47 and 347 through Dennis and Maurice River Townships
Crews will be staging cones, barrels, and message boards in designated locations along the side of these highways.
