Dump Truck Drives Off Great Egg Harbor Bridge, Garden State Parkway Southbound to be Closed for Investigation

Just what motorists need to open Memorial Day weekend. A dump truck went through a guardrail and over the Great Egg Harbor bridge near Somers Point today, causing traffic to be backed up for miles.

Emergency units responded to the accident on the Garden State Parkway southbound at the Great Egg Harbor bridge approximately 2:35 p.m., according to PressofAtlanticCity.com.

The incident apparently happened on the Upper Township side of the toll boothes.

N.J. State Police say the driver was taken to the Atlantic City division of AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.

Traffic has begun moving, but officials have announced they will close the Parkway south to investigate the crash.
