There's a study that discovers drinking champagne three times a week can starve off diseases like dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Now you have an excuse to drink that mimosa at brunch this Sunday.

The University of Reading found that a compound unique in pinot noir and pinot meunier grapes (found in white wine and champagne) aid spatial memory and shield the brain from diseases. The research was based on an experiment involving rats. Researchers found that rats that were fed small quantities of champagne performed better on simple memory tests than those who did not.

The Alzheimer's Society found Reading University's findings intriguing but more research has to be conducted in order to know for sure. If this is the case, this sure makes warding off brain disease a little more interesting.
