Having a #1 selling album is an accomplishment, doing it twice is not easy, but can you imagine a group having 6 consecutive releases reaching the top in its first week of release?  Dave Matthews is now a part of rock history.

The Billboard Album chart has revealed that the Dave Matthews Band became the first group to have 6 consecutive studio albums debut at #1 on the Billboard Album Chart.  The band's new CD "Away From The Sun" had sales in the past week of 266,000 units to grab the top spot.  Only 2 of the group's releases have not debuted at the top, and they were the first two CD's - "Under The Table and Dreaming" in 1994 (#11) and "Crash" in 1996 (#2).

For the record, DMB had shared their mark of 5 consecutive studio projects shooting to #1 in its opening week with Metallica.

The Dave Matthews Band's six #1 albums put them in elite company on another level - the only other groups to have had that many #1 albums are The Eagles (6), U2 (7), Led Zeppelin (7), Rolling Stones (9), and The Beatles (19).

If you are looking for a road trip, Dave and the boys will be a part of Farm Aid on September 22nd at Hershey Stadium on the grounds of Hershey Park.
