CVS pharmacy has made the decision to stop the selling of tobacco products at its more than 7,600 drugstores nationwide beginning October 1.  The chain wants to focus more on providing health care.

CVS Caremark is the nation's second-largest drugstore chain and executives said, in a statement today, that the plan to phase out all tobacco products including cigarettes, cigars and chewing tobacco will cost about $2 billion in annual revenue but won't affect overall earnings for the year. CVS says by removing tobacco they can grow their partnerships with doctors, hospitals and other care providers to improve customers' health, aol.com reports.
