Christina Aguilera has released a new song called "Change" tonight (June 16) on iTunes, which benefits those affected by the horrific Orlando shooting on June 12 at gay nightclub Pulse, where 49 innocent people were shot and killed.

"The horrific tragedy that occurred in Orlando continues to weigh heavily on my mind. I am sending so much love and so many prayers to the victims and their families. Like so many, I want to help be part of the change this world needs to make it a beautiful inclusive place where humanity can love each other freely and passionately," Christina began in a note on her official website. (Make sure to check out her page to read the note in full.)

"Waiting for a change to set us free / Waiting for the day you can be you, and I can be me / Waiting for hope to come around / Waiting for the day when hate is lost and love is found," she sings across the soulful, piano-led plea for tolerance and equality.

According to Christina's site, the track was written alongside Flo Reutter and Fancy Hagood (AKA Who Is Fancy), and "100% of their proceeds from each U.S. download sale of the single 'Change' on iTunes from June 17 to September 14 [go] to the National Compassion Fund to benefit victims and families affected by the Pulse shooting in Orlando."

"Change" also marks Aguilera’s first official solo musical release since 2012.

The Voice judge hinted at the forthcoming song when she first sent out a message of support to those affected by the tragedy, using the hashtag #change in her tweet.

“My prayers are with everyone affected by last night’s senseless tragedy. We can’t tolerate hate. Don’t lose hope, we can #change the future,” she wrote.

Aguilera also linked off to a GoFundMe page, started by Equality Florida, accepting donations that would directly benefit victims' families and survivors of the Orlando shooting. The page has since surpassed its initial goal of raising $100,000 and is rapidly climbing toward the $5 million mark.

"We at Equality Florida began the Pulse Victim Fund Go Fund Me campaign immediately following news of the horrific hate crime at Pulse Nightclub," the page says. "We began with a goal of $100,000, and within 3 days, have raised nearly $4.5 million from over 95,000 contributors from across the world."
