Car Splits Utility Pole, Crashes Into Home
Police say a drunk driver caused a nasty scene in Mays Landing early Saturday morning.
Just before 4 a.m., Hamilton Township police responded to the 6000 block of Main Street in Mays Landing. They say 23-year-old Mark Stebbins, Jr. was drunk, behind the wheel of a Chevy pickup truck, when he drove off the road, sliced through a utility pole and then came to rest nearly inside a home.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported to the people inside the home. Stebbins was not seriously injured either, and damage to the home does not appear to be too serious.
The road was blocked for about an hour and a half while crews cleared the scene. Power in that area was restored by 2 p.m.
Stebbins was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated as well as several motor vehicle violations.
