More than fifty bridges are in line for repair on Route 55, a project that will begin this week along the roadway.

NJDOT officials say work take place along Route 55 in Cumberland and Gloucester Counties.

The repairs are entirely preventative in an effort to boost motorist safety, and avoid more costly fixes in the future, according to NBC40.net.

Officials are well aware we're in the throws of the summer season, so no construction work or lane closures will take place on the weekends, meaning no disruption of shore traffic.

Still, be sure to follow South Jersey's Own Traffic weekdays and weekend on SoJO for any unforeseen delays.

The $3.8 million, federally funded project is scheduled to be completed by next summer.
