TOM-KAT DIVORCE UPDATE: Katie Holmes Wants Primary Custody of Suri Cruise

Battle lines are being drawn between  Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise.  The actress, who filed for divorce on Thursday, is seeking primary "primary residential custody" of the couple's 6-year old daughter Suri, as well as a "suitable amount" of child support, People.com reports.

In a statement to People.com Katie's attorney Jonathan Wolfe said:

"This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family. Katie's primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest." 

Cruise is said to be devastated and blindsided by the separation, his rep releasing a statement the the star is "deeply saddened" and is seeking privacy to "work this out".

This was the first marriage for 33-year old Holmes, and the third for 49-year old Cruise who was previously wed to Nicole Kidman and Mimi Rogers.  Holmes often remarked that she grew up dreaming of marrying the A-list star.
