New Jersey authorities are asking for help in a search for a missing boater when his unmanned boat was discovered with fishing poles in it, and the keys still in the ignition and the engine still in gear.

Richard Degener of The Press of Atlantic City reports that the empty boat was found floating about one mile east of Wildwood.  The Coast Guard has identified 39-yr-old Jason Sill of Cape May Courthouse as the registered owner of the boat.

The boat’s owner was last seen around 11 a.m. exiting Pier 47 Marina in Wildwood.  Beside the fishing poles and the keys discovered in the boat, the engine throttle was discovered in forward.

Authorities have said that a Good Samaritan reported the Navy blue vessel empty and adrift to the Coast Guard at about noon.

If you may have any information on the boater's whereabouts, you are asked to contact the Coast Guard immediately at 215-271-4940.
