Americans Hit A New Record Amount For Valentine’s Day Gifts
According to a new survey, Americans have a new record when it comes to buying gifts for the SO on Valentine's Day. Hint: it's over a billion dollars.
Americans will spend $19.7 BILLION on Valentine's Day gifts for their significant others...I'm kinda OK with being single now!
The National Retail Federation says that shoppers will spend almost $150 on gifts, just $4 more than last year. Here's the breakdown on CBS Philly:
- 50% are buying candy (because what's VDay without candy??)
- 37% buy flowers for their sweeties
- 19% purchase jewelry (remember, 'diamonds are girl's best friend!')
The survey even says that women claim to be buying gifts for men, BUT men are actually paying double! Honestly, I'm not surprised.
Who said love don't cost a thing? Happy Valentine's Day!
