Absecon Police Warning Residents of Suspicious Activity
Absecon Police have been receiving complaints of people going door to door attempting to sell items or obtain donations.
Police say the soliciting has been for a number of products ranging from home remodeling to the sale of meats and requesting donations for a for-profit military care package group.
Absecon Police remind area residents that sometimes this activity can lead to burglary, robbery, or thefts. As per an ordinance, people attempting to solicit for sales, donations, or for charitable organizations are required to have a permit issued by the City of Absecon. To obtain a permit an application has to be filed with the City Clerk’s office and a background check of each subject is conducted by the police department. Each permit is to be carried with the person and must show a photograph of the solicitor.
Anyone who encounters this activity is asked to call Absecon Police at 641-0667.
