It's the beginning of August and already I'm starting to hear some ridiculous things. There really isn't a better place to live during the summer than the Shore. Still, many feel the need to fast forward right to the end of the nice warm weather. Here are 5 things people don't want to hear and you shouldn't be saying.

  • "The Summer is almost over!"

Thanks for the reminder. While you are correct, the best part of summer, or what I like to call "local summer" is coming. We have most of August and September can be one the best months to hit the beach or be outside.

  • "There are amazing back to school sales!"

Back to school. I don't have children and that may be why hearing "back to school" bums me out even at the ripe old age of 32. Think back to when you were in school. That dread that you felt when you heard the first back to school commercial. Or how about when you had to go shopping for new supplies and clothes. When you're in K-12 the month of August feels like it's three days long.

  • "Christmas will be here before you know it"

I hate to get all bah humbug on you, but it's August! Christmas is coming earlier and earlier every year. It's a great time of year, but I don't need to see Frosty in August. I want to be enjoying a frosty beverage.

  • "The leaves are starting to change"

See above. Same concept. Fall at the Shore is an awesome time of year. But I want to notice the leaves change, I don't know, in October! For now it should be all about the sun and surf.

  • "I can't wait for Fall and the (insert pumpkin flavored item)"

Really? You can't wait another couple of months for your pumpkin spice latte? There's already Halloween candy in the store. That means decorations are not far behind. I better not hear you say a thing when the first freeze happens!
