Even though it's the first day of Spring, today's snowfall has made for treacherous travel conditions.

State Police said the victims of the crash, which took place around 1:30 p.m. today just before the Egg Harbor Toll Plaza near Hamilton Township, were a male and a female.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, though snow was falling at the time of the accident.

Hamilton Township Police told 6abc.com the driver of the westbound car lost control, crashed and the vehicle caught fire.

6abc viewer video showed the vehicle on fire before the highway was closed.
