Two former corrections officers are going to prison for having criminal sexual relations with prison and jail inmates.

Thomas Seguine, 34, was sentenced this week to three years in prison. He pleaded guilty to official misconduct after being accused of having a sexual relationship with a woman at Edna Mahan Correctional Facility in Clinton Township.

Elbert B. Johnson 2nd, 30, was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty in a case in which he was accused of raping a male inmate at Salem County Correctional Facility in Mannington Township.

The sentences were handed down months after New Jersey 101.5 reported on a prison rape scandal that involved numerous guards at the women's prison in Hunterdon County.

Seguine was one of five guards at the prison to be charged in the sexual assaults.

Among them, Joel Herscap, 55, of Alpha, a trade instructor at the prison since 2003, pleaded guilty in October and was sentenced to three years in prison.

New Jersey 101.5 reported in January that at least eight employees had been fired from the prison since 2010 as a result of sexual assault allegations.

Seven women, meanwhile, have sued the state, claiming they were sexually abused as inmates.

Seguine was a senior guard when he was accused of engaging in a relationship with the inmate.

He pleaded guilty to official misconduct in February. He must serve 2 years before he'll be eligible for parole.

Johnson, meanwhile, will be eligible for parole in two years. He will have to register as a sex offender under Megan's Law. He will forfeit his state pension and is banned from future public employment.
