A two-alarm fire is burning inside a historic South Jersey tavern and restaurant in Cumberland County.

According to authorities, the fire started before 6 a.m. Monday morning at the Hillcrest Tavern and Coach Room, in Bridgeton, Cumberland County. It's unclear what caused the fire within the historic tavern.

The tavern itself was built in 1782, and was used to mark a stagecoach route from Trenton to Cape May according to Cumberland County's website.
