A sudden tragedy triggered some quick thinking for a 12-year-old girl in Burlington Township.

Miranda Bowman steered the car to safety, just seconds after her grandfather, Paul Parker, 63, died of a heart attack while driving.

Miranda was in the front passenger seat when it happened.  Her grandfather's foot was stuck on the accelerator.

Fortunately, there was no traffic in the opposite direction, as Miranda stirred the car towards some bushes and trees, praying that she wouldn't die too.

According to Phillyblurbs, Miranda recalled, “I kicked the door open and was just crying and screaming,”  “People must have thought I was a lunatic.”

Instead, she came away as a survivor. Despite the grief of the sudden passing of her Grandfather,  her parents a plan to present Miranda with a medal of honor.
