Marley Dias has launched her own book campaign to get 1000 books that are about black female leads. And she is halfway there.

This 11-year-old social activist is quite impressive. At a young age she has received a Disney Friends for Change grant, has been to Ghana to serve food to orphans, and launched her own book club.

...meanwhile when I was 11, I was probably playing around with my Bratz dolls.

Marley's '#1000BlackGirlBooks' book drive is her latest project to collect books that have black female characters. According to Philly Voice, Marley wasn't happy reading about books that have white males as the heroes of the story.

She has collected about 400 books or possibly more since the article was published. Marley hopes to reach her goal by February 1st.

And what does she want to be when she grows up? "I want to be a magazine editor for my own magazine." (Philly Voice)

We expect nothing less Marley!
